Skin is a natural barrier for protection of the body from external factors such as environmental elements, infectious disease, and damaging ultraviolet radiation. It acts as a breathable and waterproof shield, allowing the body to maintain its temperature while keeping hazardous agents at a distance. Human skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutis. Each layer has a unique set of functions that contribute to the health and maintenance of the body and skin. Skin is our largest organ and plays an important role in our overall well-being. It helps us regulate our temperature, aids in the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, and is a defense against bacteria, viruses and other harmful substances. As such, it is important to take good care of our skin and protect it from damaging factors.
